It allows users to learn about each other and communicate with people in many different places.
Networking sites effects socialization with our peers in both negative and positive ways.
Websites such as facebook and myspace give people, especially teens and young adults, a place to socialize and find people of like interests.
But people tend to spend more time online and lose contact with the outside world. People do not socialize as much because they can do it online sites such as myspace, facebook and msn. Also people associate with people who they never met or people you barely talk to in real life.
Even though people are unable to communicate with others in face to face, they can hurt others by harassment, bullying, starting rumors, throwing insults back and forth.
Also people can put themselves in danger by meeting with the wrong person, who might be a predator, possibly kidnap or rape.

An online space called virtual community is a place where people gather and communicate, connect, and get to know each other. Many people spend much of their time in"virtual communities" such as "Second Life". Unlike Facebook, Myspace, Twitters and so on, Second Life is a virtual world where users can interact with others through 3D avatars. These avatars can navigate, communicate and engage in many activities such as walking, flying, riding vehicles, scuba diving, and dancing. Second life can be benefitial. People who weren't able to interact with others because of their disabilty or personality, could easily meet people online. Also it's used asa way of building and testing entrepreneurial skills. But it could also have negative effect on real life which it can be very addictive. Several people who were addicted to Second Life don't get much interaction with real people in outside world. They get confused with the fantasy second life and real life. They get satisfaction out of second life because they can do anything they imagine. I think that spending too much time online can bring negative effects on people.
